47th Annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari

It’s that time of year again for Jeep Off Road Enthusiasts! The 47th annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari is fast approaching March 23rd thru March 31st 2013 in the great area of Moab, Utah. Started in 1967 by the Moab Chamber of Commerce this event grew into one of the biggest off road events in the country. On March 20th, Jeep® is unveiling six more exciting concept vehicles crafted with Mopar performance parts! Jeep® Wrangler Slim – Everything performance wise on this vehicle has been trimmed in weight but not strength to get a greater overall lowered weight. This edition is powered by the 3.6 liter V6.

Jeep® Wrangler Slim

Jeep® Wrangler Flattop – A highly styled concept with a custom one-piece hard top with no window and equipped with heavy duty Mopar off road gear.

Jeep® Wrangler Stitch – Based on the Rubicon models the weight has been cut from all possible areas on this no frills Wrangler with Viper front seats and similar power to weight ratio as the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT.

Jeep® Wrangler Mopar Recon – Powered with the 6.4 liter Hemi V8 this beast has a 470 hp engine with a 5 speed automatic transmission. Many Mopar accessories have been added.

Jeep® Wrangler Sand Trooper II from Mopar - Features the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 giving it 375 horsepower and 400 ft.-lb. of torque. A five-speed automatic transmission sends the HEMI power to Mopar eight-lug front and rear Portal axles for added ground clearance. Jeep Performance Parts prototype forged beadlock wheels carry 40-inch off-road tires giving it a taller more masculine stance.

Jeep® Grand Cherokee Trailhawk Concept – Powered by the new EcoDiesel V6 motor, this Grand Cherokee has plenty of off road prowess with lots of low end torque.

Jeep Beer?

China's Jeep BeerSo here is a strange bit of news. The brand name Jeep is not just being used for offroading now, the iconic american brand is being used in China with or without Chryslers permission. China came out with a beer called “Jeep Beer” from the city of Jingzhou in Hubei Province. The label of this beer has the silhouette of a Jeep Wrangler and also has a very similar design to the beer heineken that is brewed in the Netherlands. The company is marketing the beer to be geared towards men, there’s even a tagline “Just For Man”. The Hubei Jeep Brewery Corporation awarded a prize of a Jeep to the distributor with the most sales. The distributor that won sold 60,000 liters of Jeep Beer. –I wonder what it tastes like? Well whatever beer you decide to consume just make sure it is done responsibly with a designated driver and of course not on the trail. Live Offroad and have fun!

Jeep Jamboree 2012

For an opportunity to discover new off road buddies and have a lot of fun in the process Jeep® Jamboree is the event you want to attend. These weekends happen all over the USA so finding a Jeep Jamboree near you is not hard. Jeep® Jamborees are off-road adventure weekends that bring together the outdoors, down-to-earth people, and their Jeep 4x4s. These off-road treks have a long tradition dating back to 1953 when 4×4 pioneer Mark A. Smith organized the first ever Jeep Jamboree and voyaged across the Sierra Nevada Mountains by way of the old Rubicon Trail. In 1954, Willys Motors — then manufacturer of Jeep vehicles — became involved with the adventure, and Jeep Jamborees have been an off-road tradition ever since.” – Jeep Jamboree USA

Does My Jeep 4×4 Need Special Equipment For a Jamboree?

Yes! The following is MANDATORY for all vehicles:

  • Jeep vehicles must have four-wheel drive with a low-range (4-LO) transfer case.
  • Front and rear tow points must be properly mounted to the frame with grade-eight bolts.
  • Drawbars, receiver hitches, or aftermarket bumpers with manufacturer-installed clevis or D-ring anchor points are acceptable alternates to tow points. If you don’t have tow points, you may be turned away without a refund.
  • All open-topped vehicles, including older models (CJs, Scramblers, and Willys), must have roll bars.
  • A full-size spare tire; a space-saver spare (donut) just won’t do.
  • Street legal vehicle with current license plate.

Do You Recommend Additional Equipment?

  • Skid plates covering the oil pan, gas tank, and transfer case. Mandatory for the Rubicon Trail.
  • Rock rails for Jeep Liberty, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and Commander vehicles registered for higher-rated trails. Rock rails are iron moldings designed to protect your vehicle’s rocker sills from damage. Strongly advised for Jamborees with rocky terrain. Mandatory for the Rubicon Trail. Please contact the Jeep Jamboree USA office for additional information.
  • Heavy-duty, 20-foot nylon tow straps (7,000 lb max vehicle weight) with looped ends. TOW STRAPS WITH METAL HOOKS ARE NOT PERMITTED.
  • Body lifts/suspension lifts up to six inches (combined) are permitted. Running boards and snowplow frames are not permitted. Tires over 37 inches are not permitted.

The 2012 Jeep Wrangler comes in first among many for its strong resale value. After owning a Wrangler for 5 years you can still expect the vehicle to retain around 55 percent of its value according to Kelley Blue Book. If you enjoy outdoor activities this Jeep is your ticket for just about anything from rock crawling to a simple drive to the beach. The 2012 Jeep Wrangler continues the obsession that America has had for the Jeep since the end of World War II. With the capability to crawl over a boulder at the snails pace of .5 miles per hour, the Wrangler is an off-road master. The most important improvement of  2012 is the 40 percent horsepower gain from the previous year Wrangler which had a 202 horsepower engine. The new 2012 Wrangler has a more powerful 285 horsepower V6 engine, combined with the optional five speed automatic the powertrain increases both performance and fuel efficiency.

Jeep Beach 2011 Schedule

Jeep Beach offers 5 days of family fun for every level of Jeeper! Held in Daytona Beach, Fl., Jeep Beach offers obstacle courses, raffles, and great Jeep vendors! At last year’s event, 737 Jeeps participated with over 50 vendors and $40 worth of raffle prizes. This year’s event has grown even bigger – bring the family and have some fun in the sun!
